India-based VA Tech Wabag, a global provider of water and wastewater treatment solutions, has announced that a consortium led by the company has secured a major contract valued between $30 million and $70 million for the Ajman Sewage Biorefinery Plant – Phase 3 in the UAE. The contract was awarded by Ajman Sewerage (Private) Company.
The project will be executed over a period of two years through a consortium arrangement. The scope encompasses the design, engineering, procurement and construction of a sewage treatment plant with a capacity of 60 million litres per day (MLD), along with associated inlet works, primary and secondary treatment facilities, and advanced sludge management systems.
The sludge treatment facilities will include digesters, gas holders, scrubbers and power generation units. In addition, the project incorporates odor control systems and disc filters to ensure compliance with the required treated effluent quality standards.
The plant will employ advanced mechanical and biological treatment technologies based on the Activated Sludge Process (ASP), complemented by tertiary treatment through disc filtration systems.
According to Wabag, the contract represents a strategic milestone, marking the company's entry into the UAE market and strengthening its position as a trusted provider of sustainable and innovative wastewater management solutions across the GCC region.
The company said the award significantly enhances its presence in the Middle East water sector and strengthens its credentials to pursue larger and more complex opportunities across the region.
