Saudi Tourism Development Fund Gears Up for Opening of Mega Rixos Resort at KAEC

SA King Abdullah Economic City, Saudi Arabia
Feb 04 , 2026

Saudi Arabia’s Tourism Development Fund (TDF) has announced the opening of Rixos Murjana in King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC) on the Kingdom’s Red Sea coast, positioning the development as the largest ultra all-inclusive resort in Saudi Arabia.

Enabled by the TDF, the Kingdom’s national tourism investment enabler, the resort forms part of Saudi Arabia’s broader strategy to diversify its tourism offering and elevate hospitality standards along the Red Sea, in line with efforts to expand the non-oil economy.

Opening this month, Rixos Murjana features 488 rooms and suites, many offering panoramic sea views, along with 33 private villas, supported by an extensive range of leisure, wellness, and dining facilities. Designed to cater to families and leisure travellers, the resort blends large-scale entertainment attractions with refined private beachfront experiences.

Spanning 275,000 square metres, the development represents the latest addition to Rixos Hotels’ rapidly expanding global portfolio. The brand, one of the world’s fastest-growing luxury hospitality operators, is renowned for delivering distinctive and fully integrated all-inclusive experiences.

Setting new benchmarks for world-class hospitality, Rixos Murjana brings together a comprehensive collection of attractions within a single destination. These include Murjana Waterpark, the award-winning Anjana Spa, one of the Kingdom’s most comprehensively equipped kids’ and teens’ clubs, the longest swimming pools in the Middle East, a portfolio of signature dining venues, and a diverse programme of live entertainment.

Commenting on the opening, Qusai Al-Fakhri, Chief Executive Officer of the Tourism Development Fund, said: “Rixos Murjana embodies the Fund’s vision to empower the private sector and attract foreign direct investment, and represents a qualitative step in developing exceptional tourism destinations along the Red Sea coast.”

He added: “The project reflects the strength of national and international partnerships in delivering developments that elevate hospitality standards and enrich guest experiences, contributing to enhanced tourism quality and reinforcing Saudi Arabia’s position as a global destination for all-inclusive hospitality. Today, we move forward with confidence in developing world-class destinations that reflect the Kingdom’s leadership in the tourism sector.”

Rixos Murjana has been designed to meet the needs of a diverse range of guests through a fully integrated all-inclusive model that combines personalised service with meticulous attention to detail, in line with the highest global standards that define the Rixos brand.

The resort’s interiors are inspired by Hijazi coastal architecture, reinterpreted through a contemporary and sustainable design approach that blends authenticity with innovation. Guests seeking heightened privacy can opt for Club Privé by Rixos, an ultra-exclusive villa offering a private residential experience with dedicated butler services. Elegantly appointed rooms and suites overlook landscaped gardens or the crystal-clear waters of the Red Sea, while the resort’s private Club House and Beach Club are reserved exclusively for Club Privé by Rixos guests.

Commenting on the milestone, Fettah Tamince, Chairman of Rixos Hotels, said: “The opening of Rixos Murjana marks a defining moment for Rixos Hotels in Saudi Arabia and reflects our continued confidence in Saudi Vision 2030 for tourism.”
